This is a reminder that the windows for the Edchoice Expansion (Income Based) Scholarship and Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship through the Ohio Department of Education are now open.
I am attaching a link to an article I posted last week that outlines the procedure. I have already uploaded 4 applications for Edchoice. Please do not procrastinate on this. It is a great opportunity for help with tuition for many of our families. https://www.stmichaelripley.com/article/640065
Jon Peterson Scholarships would all be renewals, so if your child already qualifies for that, please turn in your applications AND proof of address asap.

SMS Celebrates Catholic Schools Week!

Today we had some grandparents (who wish to remain anonymous) donate $200 to help offset the cost of student's day out at the bowling alley Wednesday. Thank you to our generous donors for helping us give our students another great memory at SMS!

Dear SMS Families,
As I mentioned in the article last week, registration for the 2022-23 school year is now open. If you have not turned in your registration form and fee, I HIGHLY recommend you do so by the end of the week. We have several families on the waiting list who want to enroll and are waiting. We are giving our current families the first opportunity, but it is very important that you register asap. If you have any questions feel free to call the school office.
Thank you,
Andy Arn

I know many of you like to plan ahead. Although I do not anticipate this will change much, there are a few events that could be subject to change. I have had a few of you ask me about some dates next year, so I thought I would go ahead and get this out. Hope it helps.

St Michael School is closed, Friday, January 28 due to snow. Have a good weekend.

Happy Who Dey Day from St Michael School!

Mr. Pedigo's 8th grade class just completed Homer's "Iliad". Congratulations to this group for not only raising their expectations of themselves, but also working hard to achieve this goal. Also thanks to Mr. Pedigo for leading this group, and teaching them the importance setting the bar high, and seeing it through!

Who Dey! The Bengals keep winning, so we should probably have another spirit day! Bengals spirit wear will be allowed Wednesday, January 26!

This week is our turn to be in charge of the community soup supper at the Methodist Church in Ripley. Our 8th grade students will walk down to the Methodist Church Thursday morning and work on making soup and sandwiches for the dinner. This is how all SMS Families can help:
Each family should donate a dessert. Desserts will be portioned and sent with the soup and sandwiches.
Preschool families- 1-2 large cans of crushed tomatoes
Kindergarten Families- Gallon of V-8 or Tomato Juice
1st and 2nd Grade Families- 2 cans of chili/kidney beans
3rd and 4th Grade Families- 1 lb of ground beef
5th & 6th Grade Families- Bags of frozen mixed veggies
7th Grade Families- Celery
8th Grade Families- Onions
Please drop off ingredients and desserts on Wednesday to the school.
We also need a few families to help serve and clean up Thursday evening. If you are able to help out please let us know as soon as possible!

There has been a change in this week's menu. Tuesday will now be Hot Dogs, Tater Tots, and Carrots. Thursday will now be Chicken and Noodles with Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli. For any other information regarding the menu and all things SMS, check the app!

Catholic Schools Week is coming soon!

Today was the Baby Ernst gender reveal at SMS! Each class tried to predict if Mrs. Ernst is having a boy or girl. Most of the students predicted girl. Well, Mrs. Ernst IS having a GIRL! Congratulations! We are looking forward to our new Knight!

Great opportunity here for parents of incoming preschool and kindergarten students.

School is running on schedule. However, there are a few slick spots on the hill. When you are dropping off this morning please avoid them as you drive up the hill. Thank you.
