Congratulations to SMS Alum Emerson Day ('16). Emerson is a distinguished graduated of The University of Alabama's Culverhouse College of Business. While at Alabama he majored in Management with a concentration in Health Care Analytics. In this field analysts use their knowledge of mathematics and statistics, as well as computer programming, to warehouse and mine data. Using visualization tools such as Tableau, complex datasets from multiple sources are transformed into meaningful insights about patient care, forecast future needs, and help improve patient outcomes. Emerson plans to work in the healthcare industry and endeavors to one day become a hospital CEO.

Doesn't get much better than sitting in the shade, enjoying an ice cream sundae on a sunny day! Today the 4th grade received their reward for winning the non-perishable food drive earlier in the year. A good time was had by all, complete with a lively, retrospective discussion about the books they have read as a class this year in Language Arts class.

Good afternoon. This message is in regards to school for tomorrow, Wednesday, March 27. We have been in close contact with the water company this week, and have been informed that the water shutdown in Ripley will not occur before Thursday. Therefore, we will have school tomorrow on a normal schedule with Georgetown and SMS bus service, but no RULH bus service. Easter Break will begin Thursday, March 28 and we will resume school on Monday April 8. Thank you for your patience.

Good luck to SMS students Grace Puckett and Miah Santoro, who will be representing us tonight at the Brown County Spelling Bee! We are rooting for you!

Our students had the honor of visiting the Brown County Courthouse today. Judge Gusweiler was extremely generous with his time, answering lots of questions from our students and talking about topics ranging from the 3 branches of government and how elections work, to internet safety and personal accountability. Our students did a fantastic job asking meaningful questions and participating in great discussions. Special thanks to Judge Gusweiler and his staff (especially Beau's mom and Ellie and Barrett's mom), who were very welcoming and made it such a great experience for our students. Thanks also for feeding our students pizza, which they thoroughly enjoyed!

Good morning! Just a heads up - 5th and 6th Grade are taking a test on the Rocky Mountain States and the U.S. Constitution today. Tomorrow we are planning to have our "states party" (Friday) - We all appreciate the effort parents and students put in to make these celebrations a success.

4th Grade spent their Math periods on Monday measuring ingredients for pizza dough. Then they got to make personal pizzas and enjoyed them for lunch. It was truly a delicious lesson! 🍕❤️
