The Father Daughter dance will be hosted Friday, February 9th from 6-8 at the parish hall. This is a fancy event hosted for our female students and their dates that would encourage Sunday's best attire. If you would like to assist with the dance please follow the Sign Up Genius Link below. Any further questions can be directed to Mrs. Betty, Mrs. Teresa Offutt, Mrs. Meghan Huffman and Mrs. Ernst. Thank you for always allowing our students the opportunity to have eventful nights such as these! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B084AA8A62CA0F49-47417229-father

Chess Club 'Regular Season' is winding down and the School-wide Tournament is shaping up! Our Monday, Wednesday and Friday chess club groups are finishing their season this week and there will soon be 12 finalists qualifying to move on to the big show. For this week, we WILL have chess club on Wednesday January 31st, but will NOT have chess club on Friday February 2nd. I will be posting the final 12 tournament students at the end of the week and we will begin our finals on Wednesday February 7th in the Parish Hall right after school until 4pm. If parents/siblings wish to attend, please keep in mind that there is to be no communication or 'coaching' with the students playing. Thanks again for all the parents and Mr. Arn for their continued support for this awesome opportunity for our students to grow!

Parents of any girls in grades 6-8 who would like to play middle school volleyball at St Patrick School, can call Autumn in the office at 606-564-5949. Deadline is next Friday. February 2.

SMS Service Learning project today. Our 5-8 grades prepping and preparing soup and sandwiches for the Community Soup Supper at the Methodist Church in Ripley. The supper is from 5 to 7 tonight!

Due to the funeral within the St. Michael parish family, we will not have access to the Hall on Thursday, so there has been a slight change in the lunch menu for Thursday and Friday.
We will have pizza for all of our students on Thursday. We have had an anonymous supporter donate, so this will not count against anyone's lunch account.
Friday's lunch will now be pulled pork sandwiches, potato wedges and coleslaw, which will be served in homerooms.

Good afternoon. They are just finishing up working on the water main. The hill is still rough, and there will be a boil advisory through tomorrow, not to mention the forecast. We are going to go ahead and cancel tomorrow so you don't have to scramble to make plans for your children. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Dear SMS Parents, A water main will be repaired on the school side of Market St. tomorrow at 8:00 am. All water on our side of Market St will be off and the street will be closed. As a result, we will have to cancel school tomorrow, Thursday, January 18. I know there is snow in the forecast for Friday, but we will see how that plays out and if all the construction gets taken care of tomorrow.
I am reminding the 3-8 graders who haven't finished, to take this opportunity to finish up any work they have left on their science fair projects. Have a great day!

Just a heads up. Looks like there is a water main break at one of the houses on Market St. There is a sheet of ice that flows down the left side (as you're looking at the school) and flows through the intersection. You should be able to cross at the intersection fine, but please do not park on the church side of the hill this morning because that's where people will have to drive up the hill.
I'd call a delay, but 2 hours won't change anything, and there is no need to mess up your day. It shouldn't affect us at school. Be safe.
