Happy Saturday, SMS Families,
We are t-10 days of school left in the 2025-26 school year, with lots of things going on in the next two weeks. Please make sure you are up-to-date on what is going on.
On behalf of everyone at SMS, Happy Mother's Day to all of our great moms. You are loved and appreciated!
Thanks to Mrs. Kacy, Mrs. Burrows and Mrs. Fetters for putting together a fun night at the annual Spring Dance last night! We had a really good turnout, and everybody had a great time! Thanks also to everyone who donated snacks and drinks for the event.
Testing for the year is now behind us for the most part. Special thanks to Mrs. K and Mrs. Fetters for organizing that and making it run smoothly.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to recognizing our staff this week for Teacher Appreciation Week. You don't become a teacher for the accolades, but I can tell you, encouragement from parents means a lot, and the best outcomes I have ever seen for children come when parents and teachers work together. On behalf of our entire staff, thank you for your support.
IMPORTANT: On Monday, students will be bringing home their Field Day t-shirts. They should wear those to school on Wednesday for Field Day. They will also be bringing home white folders with outstanding balances (Tuition, Lunch, and Field Trips) Please make sure those are taken care of, soon, or call the office to make other arrangements. They can be paid on OptionC through your MattMoney account, or send a check back in your white folder to the office. Thank you!
ALSO IMPORTANT: There will be no SMS bus service in the afternoon on Thursday or Friday this week. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Looking ahead at this week (For many of these events, there is a link, just click it to refer to the original story about the event:
Monday- 1st and 2nd Grade Field Trip to the Cincinnati Zoo. Great job filling out permission slips everybody! If you have not yet sent in the $10 fee, please do that Monday.
Tuesday- 3rd through 6th grade will be launching their rockets with Mr, Zachman, and 3rd through 8th grade will be participating in Creek Day, by the bridge at the corner of Eagle Creek and Scoffield Rd. The weather isn't looking great, but we are going to roll with it, because there just aren't that many days left available. If you have not filled out permission slips for this field trip, please do that on OptionC. You only need to fill out one permission slip as both events are part of the same trip. The school has covered all costs associated with this field trip, so there are no fees.
Wednesday- Field Day will be held at the park in Aberdeen. Thanks to all of our volunteers, and thanks to all who are donating food and drink for our students. Please fill out permission slips on OptionC, and send in or pay online the $10 fee to help cover the costs of t-shirts and Kona Ice.
Thursday- On Thursday, our 7th and 8th grade will carry on the tradition of SMS Day at the Ballpark. Please fill out permission slips on OptionC. There will be no cost associated with this trip other than what students will need to purchase food or drinks. Thanks to the Serra Club for paying part of the cost of the tickets. We will get home late, based on the ending time of the game. Mr. Arn is driving for this field trip, so there will be no PM SMS bus service on Thursday.
Friday- should be relatively normal schedule. There will be no PM SMS bus service on Friday. Please make appropriate transportation arrangements.
