Happy All Saints Eve, SMS Families!
It was great to see so many of you at our annual Halloween Party last night. Thanks to everyone who donated items for the event! Special thanks also, to our amazing staff who went above and beyond to make it a great evening for the SMS community.
Yesterday, through your generosity, we were able to present Lindsey Evans with a little over $1400 to help with her battle with cancer. She was extremely grateful, and asked me to thank you all! Please keep Lindsey in your prayers. Great job SMS Families!
Harvest Dinner This week we sent home sign ups to volunteer, and/or donate desserts to the Harvest Dinner. We received several back so far, but would like to have them all in by Monday, so we can begin planning. If for some reason you did not receive a sign up sheet, please either email me, or send in a hand written note on Monday letting us know if you would like to help on the day of, or would like to donate a dessert, and exactly what you will be donating. Please spread the word and invite your friends and family to the Harvest Dinner and Cake Auction!
Tutoring We had some parents ask abut the possibility of tutoring after school. Beginning second trimester, we will offer after school tutoring. Mrs. Moon, Mrs. Hyde and Mrs Wilson will be available by appointment, and Mr. Hyde will have open tutoring on Tuesdays after school until 4:00. For now, SMS will cover costs. Again, we just ask that everyone helps with our fundraisers, SGO, and help when you can!
Chess Club gets started on Monday. Mr. Hyde sent out sign up sheets a few weeks ago, and has separated the chess players into three different groups:
Mondays (Isaiah Davenport, Josiah Davenport, Weston Wireman, Emma Purdin, Ellie Henson, Barrett Henson, Roarke Passet, Brock Hultz)
Wednesdays (Saylah Hamilton, Elliana Black, Zoey Durham, Cole Daniels, Kowin Offutt, Josie Sentney, Oscar Sentney),
Fridays. (Lincoln Gray, Pax Burrows, Justin Nead, Jude Piatt, Oakley McJoynt-Griffith, Jude Piatt, Cylas Hughes, Gia Doss, Kanynn Smith, River Smith)

IP Grant We are excited to announce that we have received a grant from International Paper, that will provide science equipment including a program that will aid in the study of weather. Thank you International Paper for all of your support over the years!
Chromebooks We have had some issues lately with Chromebooks and other equipment, and supplies being misplaced and mishandled. These things happen for sure, but please support us as we try to reinforce to students the importance of being organized and treating tools and equipment properly. Also, Chromebooks should not be coming home. If you notice that they are, please remind them that Chromebooks need to stay at school. Thank you!
SMS Gala Tickets for the 2027 Gala went on sale this week! You have plenty of time to get them but please make sure you save the date, and spread the word! We had a great time last year, and can't wait for this year's party to celebrate our school. Click the link for more information!
I had some great conversations last night with many of you at the Halloween Party. Thank you all for all of the ways that you support our school. Your kindness, generosity, and willingness to work together to create the best environment for our students, truly sets our school apart. I am proud to be a small part of this community.
