Hello SMS Families!

Our 7th and 8th grade had an unforgettable experience last week on our first ever trip to Washington DC. We saw so much, up and at 'em at each morning at 6:00 am and getting back to the hotel around 10:00 pm, and walked over 20 miles! Our students were very well behaved, and I think they learned a lot, and will remember this adventure for the rest of their lives. Thanks to all who contributed in any way to support this amazing opportunity for our children.

Congratulations to Oakley McJoynt-Griffith and Elliana Black who won 1st and 3rd place respectively in the Arbor Day Essay Contest, sponsored by the Ripley Tree Committee!

Many of our seventh and eighth graders will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation Sunday, April 26 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Chains, in Cincinnati tomorrow at 1:30. Please keep them in your prayers as they receive this Holy Sacrament of Initiation!

We officially have less than a month of school left! There is a lot going on in the next four weeks, please be sure to check our Events page on our website, or see the list of events below so you can stay in the loop.

Monday, April 27 is Spirit Day!

This week, Kindergarten-1st grade will be taking the Spring AimsWeb assessment. Please avoid unnecessary absences.

The Academic Team has a match on Tuesday at 4:00 at Whiteoak. Good luck Academic Team!

Our 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades have a field trip on Wednesday to the Newport Aquarium. Please fill out permission slips on OptionC and send in the $10 fee if you have not yet done so! Read more about the 3-6th grade trip here.

The 8th grade will be taking the State Algebra Test on Thursday.

This Friday, May 1 is May Crowning, a Catholic tradition in which we honor our Blessed Mother, Mary, which will happen at 8:15 Mass. 7th and 8th graders should wear their Sunday best to school this day. 2nd graders who received 1st communion can wear their 1st Communion clothes to school and bring a change of clothes for after Mass if they like.

Head up: There will be no SMS afternoon bus service on May 14 & 15. Please make appropriate transportation arrangements. As a side note, unfortunately Mr. Glassmeyer who has been volunteering to help out with driving the bus, will no longer be able to help, as he went back to work. We thank him for his volunteering, and wish him all the best. I will do all I can to drive all the routes, but there could be days that come up in which I can't. if anyone knows a bus driver who would be willing to fill in from time to time, please let me know.
