Good afternoon SMS Families,
Unfortunately, there will be no morning SMS bus service on Monday. We are having an issue with the warning lights, and although we are trying to get it taken care of this weekend, we will still have to get it approved by the highway patrol before we can transport students. I apologize for the inconvenience, and if anyone is in a bind, let me know and I will personally help with transportation if I can. We will let you know as soon as we know anything about the afternoon on Monday.
Congratulations to Grace Puckett who represented SMS at the Brown County Spelling Bee this past week. We are proud of you Grace!
Monday, March 23, we will observe World Down Syndrome Awareness Day, Students may wear World Down Syndrome Awareness Day t-shirts, or blue or yellow t-shirts with jeans (no holes) or uniform pants.
Thanks to all who helped in any way at the Fish Fry this weekend. It was a bit of a slow week, but we are hoping to end with a bang this Friday. If you can help, sign up here, otherwise encourage your friends and family to order food this Friday! So far we have raised a little over $29,000 at the fish fry!
Congratulations to this week's $1,000 winner, Mike Jennings! Remember, this week is also the BIG $10,000 drawing. It will happen at the fish fry at around 6:30, and tickets can be purchased until the drawing, or if we run out of tickets. We will livestream the drawing. Thanks to everyone who has sold tickets this year, we have raised over $35,000!
Next week the 7th and 8th grade will travel to Maria Stein on March 31, to make up for the field trip that was snowed out twice in December. Please fill out the permission slip on OptionC. Students should be in uniform and pack their lunches.
Some other field trips coming up this spring to put on your radar:
More to follow...
As always, please refer to the school calendar, or our events page on the SMS website for more information.
Pizza for our student's lunch this week will be provided by Mike Jennings! Thanks Mike!
If you have not yet turned in registration and EdChoice paperwork, please do so soon. Thanks for your attention to this matter.
Finally, I know I have mentioned this in the past, but I would once again like to encourage all of our families to consider limiting screen time for our children, and keeping a close eye on what children are doing when on a device. Social media and many games in which children are online with other children or even sometimes adults can be very detrimental. Many of the problems that make it to my office stem directly from something that happened online. We have extremely high security at school on our devices, but are still making a concerted effort to limit screen time here as well, and it works better as a school community if we work on this together. Thank you for your consideration.
It is an honor to work with your children, which I take very seriously. Thanks for choosing SMS. Have a great week!
