Hello SMS Families,
Thanks once again to everyone who contributed to the SMS Gala. We raised closer to $40,000 when it was all said and done, it was our community coming together, that was the best part.
Thanks to everyone who helped make the Father Daughter Dance a memorable evening for our young ladies and their dads. Thanks especially Mrs. Ernst and Mrs. Huffman for organizing the event.
Thanks to Miss Cox and all of our judges today who volunteered their time to listen to our students present their science fair projects. As I reminded our students this week, I know this can be a stressful event, and it isn't always easy, but to quote A League of Their Own, " if it was easy, everybody would do it. It's the hard that makes it great." Learning about and explaining a complex process, while using the scientific process is a worthwhile endeavor. Great job everyone!
Looking ahead at this week:
We do have school Monday. Sorry for any confusion surrounding President's Day.
There will be no Ripley bus service Monday.
Ash Wednesday is this Wednesday, and we will run on a typical Friday schedule
Reminder, everyone will receive ashes on Wednesday at Mass
Thursday is parent teacher conferences, please sign up here by Monday.
We will dismiss at 12:30 on Thursday for conferences
There will be no afternoon Ripley bus service
There is no school Friday, February 20
Our first Fish Fry of the year is this Friday, February 20. There is no school that day, but we will still need help. Please make sure you sign up to help at one of the 6 weeks. The more everyone chips in, the easier it is for all of us. Plus we have fun! Thanks in advance to everyone who signed up! Reminder: this week is 1st and 2nd grade's responsibility to provide baked goods for the bake sale. Please share our flyer which can be found on Facebook or our website, and encourage your friends and family to eat at the fish fry!
Also this Friday is the first $1,000 drawing. We will sell tickets all the way up to the $10,000 drawing on March 27. So far we have raised about $7,000 with a lot of tickets still out. If you still have tickets that you cannot sell, please send them back to the office this week, so we can try to sell them at the fish fry, Of course, if you can sell them, please do so!
Finally, another reminder as many folks are getting their taxes squared away. We have had many parishioners and grandparents who have donated to the CEF SGO. I'm not sure how it will all turn out, but I can tell you I donated a few weeks ago, and had my taxes done the next day. A few days later, I found out what my return was, and I got the entire donation back. This is an easy way to divert funds that would normally go to the state, directly to our school. It is really easy to do online, but you can also mail it in. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to contact me.
It was great to get a full week in this week, hopefully the weather continues to be in our favor. Have a great weekend!
