Happy Sunday SMS Families,

Hopefully we are out of the weather issues and will be able to stack days for a while! There's still a lot going on, I will try to be brief, please read the following:

Thanks to everyone who came to, and supported the Gala this weekend. It was a great evening celebrating SMS, bringing our supporters together. Personally, it means a lot to me to see so many people who care so much about this mission and understand the importance of our school in our community. We will have numbers later as far as the fundraising aspects of it, but either way , it was a huge success if for no other reason, bringing our school community together.

We are less than two weeks from the first fish fry. Please see this article if you have not already, and please sign up for at least two volunteer shifts. Please also share our flyer and encourage people you know to come and eat with on us beginning on February 20!

First reconciliation for our Catholic 2nd graders is this coming Tuesday, February 10 at 6:00pm at St. Michael in Ripley. Please pray for our 2nd graders as they prepare for this Sacrament.

The SMS Science Fair is this Friday, February 13. Thanks to the 18 judges who are volunteering their time to give their Friday to listen to our students present their projects and give them important feedback to help them with their projects and become better at presenting information. We have been working on this for months, please talk with your 3-8 grader to make sure they are ready to go!

The Father-Daughter Dance is this Friday at the Library Annex in Ripley. I know as a dad, these were some of my best memories from when my daughters were in school here. Enjoy it dads, it goes too fast! Thanks Mrs. Ernst and Meghan Huffman for organizing this memorable event!

There will be no Ripley bus on Monday February 16.

Wednesday, February 18 is Ash Wednesday, beginning the season of Lent. We will have Mass here that morning, and all students will receive Ashes to remind us of our need for God's mercy.

On Thursday, February 19, we will have our 2nd parent-teacher conference. You can sign up here. We will dismiss at 12:30 that day. There will be no afternoon Ripley bus that day. Conferences are from 1:00-6:00. Kindergarten parents, you will notice that there are no signups for you. Mrs. Earhart will be reaching out to schedule conferences with you individually at your convenience.

There is no school on Friday, February 20. (Which is also the first fish fry!)

I would like to thank Mr. Hyde for all he has done with our students after school with Chess Club. I know our students who participate enjoy it very much, and are learning a lot. Great job Mr. Hyde!

Finally, I wanted to pass along some information that in the month of December we received $9,000 in donations to the Catholic Education Foundation Scholarship Granting Organization! I would also like to confirm with you that last week I was able to donate $750 to the CEF SGO and will be receiving it right back in my tax return. I tell you this just so you know this is a real thing, that many people can easily do to send their tax money to SMS instead of the state. It will literally cost you nothing. Click this link for the story I shared about this a few months ago. Thanks to everyone who as already taken advantage of this.

Have a great week!
