Good afternoon SMS Families!
It was great to get back at it this week! Please keep an eye out today for white folders. They contain midterm reports, and outstanding bills, and some grade specific information in some folders. Please return those folders with anything that needs to come to the office on Monday.
Looking ahead at next week, most of the week looks as routine as it gets. On Friday, the Ripley Fire Department will speak to our students about the importance of fire safety around the home and here at school. Also on Friday, we will have our annual pet blessing. We realize it might not be logistically easy to bring pets for the blessing, so pictures would be fine. If you would like to bring pets for the blessing, you are welcome to, we just ask that you keep them on leashes, in cages, or under control. Everyone should be in place by 2:00 pm.
We have some other events coming up in October to keep on your radar:
Oct 11- Rosary Rally- all are welcome to gather in town square in Georgetown to pray for our country. Begins at noon.
Oct 14- R-Farms Trip (P-2)
Oct 15- Picture Re-takes
Oct 17 & 20- No Ripley Bus
Oct 21 First Reconciliation Parent Meeting (2nd Grade Catholics)
Oct 24- SMS Halloween Party
Oct 29- Students may wear Halloween Costumes to School (Must be appropriate)
Oct 31- In honor of All Saints Day, students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Saint!
Next week we will post news about the Annual Harvest Dinner, and a new idea for the Annual Cake/Dessert Auction.
We are also considering a Fall fundraiser for the 7th/8th grade Washington DC trip. Stay tuned.
I try to post things on our FB Families page as often as I think about it to give you a window into the day to day here at SMS. I don't always do a great job, illustrating what the typical day looks like here, and I will try to do better. What I can tell you is that in 24 years of Education I have never been more impressed with a group of students as a whole than I have been with our students this year. They inspire me, and I feel blessed to be able to be here to help them navigate the ups and downs, and the many lessons they are learning as they grow. Thank you for letting me be a part of it. Have a great weekend!
