SMS News

Good afternoon! We have a few important reminders for you today. Please read the following:

  • Tomorrow, Thursday, October 12 are parent teacher conferences. Conference times have been emailed to all parents who have signed up for conferences. Each conference is ten minutes, and it is very important that we stay on schedule. We look forward to meeting with you tomorrow.
    • School will dismiss at 12:30 pm. The Georgetown Bus will run as scheduled, there will be no Ripley afternoon bus service. Please make sure you have made transportation arrangements.
    • Kona Ice will be here from 11:00-12:00. If you plan to send money for your child for Kona Ice, please send it tomorrow morning in an envelope marked "Kona Ice" with your child' s name on the envelope.
    • Please look in your child's backpack, as we will be sending confirmation letters for all who signed up for Grandparent's Day.
  • There is no school on Friday, October 13. Teachers have a professional development day.
  • The annual SMS Halloween Party will be held on Friday, October 27 from 6:00-8:00pm in the school parking lot. We will have more about this later, but we wanted you to be able to mark your calendars.

Speaking of calendars, I would like to take this opportunity to promote the SMS website and app. Communication is incredibly important for us to be able to work together to make your child's educational experience the best it can be. Communication is a two way street. I promise to do my best to give you information in a concise way, but it is important for all of our families to use the tools we have to deliver information to you. I highly recommend that you become familiar with our website. We keep the events tab updated the best we can with upcoming school events. You can also check out the lunch menu on the dining tab. Both of these are available on the SMS app that you can find on iTunes or Google Play. News stories from the school are posted on the news tab, (like this story) and we usually share them via text, app alert, and on our private Facebook page. We will never stop working on communication on our end, please help us out by reading the news and information we send home, and use the tools that we have put in place to help keep you in the loop.
