Dear SMS Families,

I know there have been many schools, even some in our communities who are taking off due to the Bengals making the Super Bowl. In fact Georgetown is cancelling school completely, and Ripley will be running on a two hour delay. As a result there will be NO AM BUS SERVICE from either Georgetown or Ripley. There will be afternoon bus service for Ripley only.

Anyone who knows me, know that there are very few if any who love sports more than I do. However, I believe it is best for SMS to be in school as usual on Monday. I encourage all of our families to cheer on the Bengals, I will definitely be watching. I also realize it might be a later night than normal, but my feeling is, that it should be a parent's decision whether or not to come to school, or come in a little late on Monday.

I looked at at the possibility of moving the observance of President's Day from Monday the 21st to this Monday, but with Parent Teacher Conferences already scheduled for next week, it would have left us with a two and a half day week next week. With all the interruptions we have had over the past month, it just seems wrong to disrupt the schedule that much.

As I say often, a child's most important teacher is his or her parents, and in this case, we believe this is a decision parents should make, and I respect the call of our parents in regards to their own children. St. Michael School will be open and ready to serve our students and families according to the normal schedule.
