Good morning SMS Families,
We had another great week at SMS! Thanks to everyone who donated to the Pink, Dress Down for a Purpose Day. Together we raised over $1300 to help a local member of our community in her battle with breast cancer.
Looking ahead at next week, we have spirit day on Monday. Students may wear SMS spirit wear with jeans or uniform pants.
On Friday, October 30, we will celebrate All Saints Day, since All Saints is actually on Sunday. Every year on All Saints (a Holy Day of obligation) we have Mass, and our students are encouraged to research and dress up like a Saint of their choice. This is a great way for our students to learn more about the lives of the Saints who lived heroic lives dedicated to Jesus Christ! If students would rather not participate, that is completely fine, but they should wear school uniforms.
The annual SMS Halloween Party will be held Friday, October 30 from 6:00-8:00 in the school parking lot. This is always a well-attended, fun evening, and we hope to see you there! There will be no parking in the parking lot that evening, so plan to park on the hill by the church, the Parish Hall parking lot, or street parking. Thanks to everyone who donated items for the party, and thanks to our staff who has been working hard to put it together!
Looking a little further ahead, we will have a Veteran's Day Program on Wednesday, November 11. The program will begin in the church at 8:00 am. There will be a guest speaker and the Ripley color guard will be in attendance. All Veteran's are welcome to come and be recognized! There will be light reception afterward for our guests.
The Book Fair will be November 12- 16. There will be more information in the coming weeks.
Please plan to attend the annual St Michael Harvest Dinner on Sunday, November 15 from 10:30 am until 2:00 pm. There will be a choice of turkey and pork loin with all the fixins available. You can dine in, carry out, or go through the drive thru. ATTENTION ALL BAKERS: We will also have a cake auction both in person and online. There will be more information coming out on this in the coming weeks.
We will have early dismissal on Tuesday, November 24, which leads into Thanksgiving break.
It's wild that we are talking about November! Have a great weekend everyone!
