Hello SMS Families!

We are finishing up week 2, and it feels like everyone is settling in. I have been able to get around to a few classes this week, and have seen some awesome things happening. We had a guest who was new to SMS here this week, and they remarked over and over, how polite the children are. We sure are proud of them!

This Monday, August 31 is our first SMS Spirit Day. Students may wear SMS Spiritwear with jeans or shorts. We will try shorts again, but please do not let students wear super short, shorts. If this continues to be a problem on spirit day, as it was last year, we will have to go back to jeans or uniform shorts only on spirit day. Also jeans should not have rips, holes or tears. Thank you!

This Thursday and Friday, September 3 and 4, is the townwide yardsale in Georgetown, which means the parking lot at St. George will be unavailable. Mr. Hesler will pickup and dropoff on Thursday in the IGA parking lot closest to 5th/3rd. Please make the appropriate arrangements.

We still need eforms for about 40 students. If you need help logging in, please let the office know and we will be happy to help. If you need help filling out the forms, here are the instructions, or you can call the office and I will walk you through it.

I have received several emails regarding bills on OptionC. I am happy to answer any questions about this, but please read this article from the summer, as it explains the situation better. We do all we can to help our families with tuition, we just need everyone to do their part through fundraisers and other opportunities like the scholarship granting organization.

If for some reason you are not receiving messages via text or email and would like to, please let me know and I will check all of your information.

Speaking of fundraisers, thanks to everyone who has contributed to the golf outing. It is next Saturday at Laurel Oaks in Maysville. If you still plan to help, please let me know what you are planning to contribute as we plan for the event. There is a lot to do behind the scenes to make this successful, and it makes it easier when we know what we are working with. last year, this fundraiser made about $27,000, which goes directly to helping our families with tuition.

This Friday is our first, First Friday of the year. The schedule is a little different on First Fridays, and students have time for prayer in adoration after Mass and certain times throughout the day.

Finally, it is with a heavy heart that I inform you that Larry Scott, or "Mr. Larry" as the students knew him has passed away after a long battle with cancer. I am sure many of you recall us praying for him and his family last year and into this year. Larry wasn't at SMS for a long time, but he was always kind and generous with the school, and it meant a lot to him when the kids wrote him letters during his battle. We would like to help out his family during this difficult time, and will have our first "Out of Uniform for a Cause" day on Wednesday, September 9. On that day, students may be out of uniform. Please no really tight fitting clothes, pants with rips, holes or tears, and no writing on clothes that would be inappropriate for school. We will accept cash donations and all proceeds will go to Larry's family. Thank you.
