Happy Friday SMS Families!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far. Hopefully we are out of the rain for a while, and can all enjoy some beautiful summer weather!

I wanted to update everyone on a few personnel changes for the 2026-27 school year. I am very excited about the dedicated professionals that we will have to help guide our students next year.

Mrs. Bradley is currently working on completing her Master's Degree in special education and will join our MTSS team, working with Mrs. Hatfield, as she works on her intervention license.

Mrs. Davanna Smith will take over as our new preschool teacher. Mrs. Smith helped Mrs. Bradley, as well as in other classes around this school this past year. Mrs. Smith has a wealth of experience, working in education for over 30 years, ranging from her time as an aide in kindergarten and one to one aide services at Batavia elementary to homeschooling her own grandchildren. Mrs. Smith has been an excellent addition to SMS, and we are excited to have her as our new preschool teacher!

Mrs. Earhart will be moving to a part time role at SMS next year, joining Mrs. Wallace, Mrs. Pedigo and Mrs. Rochelle Massey, serving our students as a Title 1 teacher. This all-star team will be dedicated to helping all of our students, but more specifically our students in grades K-4 become strong readers!

Mrs. Moon, our 3rd and 4th grade ELA teacher for the past couple years will take her talents to room 101, becoming our new Kindergarten teacher!

Ms. Wilson and Mrs. Germann (Miss Kacy) will return as our first ad second grade teachers. We are blessed to have them!

We are excited to announce that Mrs. Heidi Hyde, recently retired from Georgetown and is bringing her 30 plus years of experience and academic excellence to SMS. She becomes our third grade homeroom and reading teacher. Mrs. Hyde has also worked as an intervention specialist in the past and will work in 3rd and 4th grade with our MTSS team. Mrs. Alli Hamilton will become the new 3rd grade Math teacher. Mrs. Lindsey Evers who joined us during the school year last year, and did a great job, will also have a new role, becoming our 4th grade homeroom teacher, as well as teaching 4th grade ELA, Math and Religion. Ms. Cox will become the 3rd and 4th grade Social Studies and Science teacher, and will continue to serve as our P.E./Health Teacher as well. She will also help Mr. Hyde with the Science Fair and will once again be in charge of field day!

Our middle school staff returns with a few changes. Mrs. Chloe returns to be part of the 5th-8th grade Math and ELA teams. Mr. Pedigo will be the 7th and 8th grade ELA teacher, and teach Social Studies to grades 5-8. Mr. Pedigo will also share his talents with our students in special classes to be determined. Mr. Hyde will now be our Science teacher for grades 5-8 and become part of the Math team for 5th-8th grade, and I will continue to teach Algebra to the 8th grade students.

Our religious education staff stands out once again, and this year will include Mrs. Betty, Mrs. Evers, Mrs. Ernst Mrs. Burrows and of course Father Amberger.

Also returning in familiar roles next year: Mrs. Kelly, Mrs. K, Mrs. Fetters, Mrs. Groh, Mrs, Ashton, Mrs. Heller, Mrs. Hatfield, Mrs. Seip, SGTMAJ, Mr. Frebis, Mr. Jennings, Mrs. Sentney, and Mrs. Craig.

Finally, as I mentioned a few weeks ago, I feel confident that we have worked out an agreement with Sheriff Hodges to have a full-time SRO next year as well!
