Hello! I hope everyone is having a good weekend! We had a busy, but productive week at SMS! Thanks to everyone who sent in treats, I think everybody was sugared-up by Friday. Special thanks to Mrs. Hamilton, Ms. Linda, Mrs. Fetters and Mrs. Boone for coming in a little extra this week, to help out where needed. We are blessed to have so many willing to help our students when needed.
This week at morning prayer we read from the Book of Genesis, more specifically about the story of Noah and the flood. We talked about how sometimes life can seem overwhelming, with scary things that might feel like too much to handle. We discussed how Noah trusted God, doing everything God asked him to do. We talked about how important it is that we trust God, and try to understand God's plan for us through prayer, and not worry about the things that are out of my control, trusting that God is good (all the time), and His will be done. This week's readings will continue with the story of Noah, and later in the week we will read from Isaiah 54:8-10. I encourage all of our families to follow along with us at home, reinforcing scripture and having meaningful discussions as a family!
Parent Teacher Conferences are set for Thursday, November 13, from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm. You can sign up for a time here. We will be dismissing at 12:30 that day, and there will be no school on Friday, November 14. Note: Parents of Algebra 1 students, if you would like to meet with me regarding your child, please send me an email and I will be happy to meet with you. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend conferences on the 13th as I must attend a Principal's Summit at Miami University on November 13 and 14.
Our annual SMS Family Thanksgiving Feast is coming up on Tuesday, November 25. On this day, our entire student body, and faculty gathers in the Parish Hall for a Thanksgiving meal. This is provided by the school free of charge for all students. We could use a little help though, with donations of rolls, pumpkin pie and apple pie. To sign up to donate, click here. Items need to be at the school on Monday, November 24.
This is a reminder that there are 2 field trips (7th and 8th grade to Maria Stein, and 5-8 to the Ohio Supreme Court) coming up that need permission slips signed on OptionC as soon as possible.
We are excited to announce the return of Mrs. Groh this week to our music program. Special thank you to Mrs. Betty and Mrs. Boone for stepping up and helping our vocal music program in Mrs. Groh's absence.
Way to go SMS Families! We raised over $1500 in donated change for the Pregnancy Resource Center, in our Baby Bottle Campaign. Thank you all for your generosity!
