Happy Friday SMS Families!

We have had an awesome week, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone tonight at the Annual SMS Halloween Party!

This week at morning prayer, we read from the Acts of the Apostles and talked about how John and Peter realized the difficult task that was ahead of them, as they were threatened about teaching about Jesus. When they prayed, they did not ask God to get them out of the persecution that they were facing, rather they asked Him to give them them the strength to speak the truth with all boldness. We talked about how it is important that we don't always try to get out of the hard things in life, rather to pray to God for the strength to do His will. Next week we will read from the Book of Genesis chapters 6-8

On Tuesday, three more 7th graders will help Mrs. Caitlin prepare the meal. This week, it's homemade chili!

Special thanks to Mrs. Sentney, Mrs. Fetters, Mrs. Sue Arn, and Mrs. Donovan for filling in this week where needed!

Please note the SMS Baked Goods Auction. It is important that we have bakers, but it will be just as important that we have people to bid on the baked goods when they are made available. Please encourage those who might be so inclined, to bid! It will be a great opportunity to bring an awesome dessert to your family Thanksgiving! All proceeds to our SRO fund.

Congratulations to our very own Miss Kacy who is getting married this week. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Germann!

You are doing a great job in the "Baby Bottle Fundraiser" benefitting the Pregnancy Resource Center. It looks like we are going to be able to make a considerable donation. We have also been using the money to work on counting and other math related problems in some of our JUMP classes! The fundraiser ends on Friday, October 31.

This is a reminder that although I do post some things on our private, SMS Families FB page, not everyone has Facebook, and even if you do, your feed might not necessarily take you to our stories. You can always go get information from our website and app, like news, events and the lunch menu.

Speaking of lunch, we would like to make sure all parents are aware that we make peanut butter sandwiches available for students as an alternative in case a student does not like what is on the menu. I encourage you to check out the menu on the app or the website, so you know what we are having that day It is important that students order the entree or peanut butter(only as an alternative). We want to make sure everyone is getting enough to eat, but in the interest of efficiency (and not wasting food) it is also important that we are able to get an accurate lunch count each day. Thanks for your help with this.

This week at SMS:

  • Monday- Spirit Day

  • Wednesday- I apologize for the late notice, but we will not have students wear Halloween costumes to school. With the party happening on Friday, the 24th and also having 2 other dress up days this week, it seemed like a bit much. Sorry for the confusion.

  • Also on Wednesday, we are having our pulled pork lunch fundraiser. If you would like to place an order, please get those in to us at the school asap. Huge thanks to our friends at RTS and International Paper who have placed big orders. Thanks also to Carissa Kirk and Mrs. Caitlin for helping out with this fundraiser which is raising money for our 7th and 8th graders' trip to Washington DC.

  • Friday- Students may dress up as their favorite Saint! If you need ideas, you can do an easy Google search, but dressing up is not mandatory.
