May is almost here! 18.5 action packed days left, and we are looking forward to some great learning experiences in this last month.

Thanks to Mrs. Betty, Miss Kacy, Mrs. Moon and Mrs. Fetters for putting on a fun Spring Dance on Friday!

Thanks to all the students who turned out to help with the community cleanup on Saturday. We had a good group, and it was a great opportunity for us to give back. Great job Knights!

Congratulations to our six students who received Holy Communion for the first time on Sunday!

Looking ahead at this week:

  • Monday- I checked out the creek today, and it looked great! Thanks to Chelsa Burke for securing permission for us to have Creek Day tomorrow at Eagle Creek and thanks to the Georgetown Life Squad for being on site, to add a layer of security for our students. It is spirit day, but students in grades 3-8 are welcome to wear old clothes that can get wet or dirty, as we will be in the creek. It would be a good idea to bring a towel and a plastic kroger bag to put wet things in. 5th and 6th grade will go from 8:20-10:10, 3rd and 4th grade will go from 10:00-11:40, and 7th and 8th will go from 12:20-1:50.

  • Tuesday will be a relatively normal day.

  • Wednesday- Preschool will be headed to Family Traditions Animal Adventures and K-2 will be headed to Frozen Jr in Cincinnati.

  • Thursday- We will be rehearsing for Sunday's Spring Concert at the Gaslight Theater. Grades 3-8 will rehearse in the morning, and P-2 in the afternoon. We will use the SMS bus to transport students.

  • Friday- We will have May Crowning during Mass, and since it is First Friday, we will also have Adoration and Benediction. Also on Friday, SMS grandparents Susen Arn and Janet Rockey are going to teach our students in grades 5-8 how to sew a button, as part of our "They Should've Taught That In School" program. Also, our Mother / Son Event at the YMCA is Friday Evening from 7:30-9:30. Thanks to everyone who RSVP'd!

  • Sunday- Our annual Spring Concert will be held at the Gaslight Theater in Georgetown, beginning at 3:00. Students should be there, wearing "Sunday best" at 2:30.

A few things to put on your radar:

  • We will be testing May 6, 7, 8, and 13 in the mornings. Please avoid appointments at those times.

  • The Preschool will go on a field trip to learn about the Recycling Center and Rumpke on May 6

  • We will have our annual Mother's Day Brunch on May 8 and 9. Thank you Brian Nead and Zach Seip for volunteering to help. We could use a few more dads who can help out either of those mornings if you are available

  • The 8th grade will go on their Annual Kings Island Educational Days Field Trip on May 14.

  • Field Day is scheduled for Friday, May 16 and due to construction in Ripley, we will have it at the Kathryn Hanlon Park in Georgetown. Thanks to the Village of Georgetown for letting us use the park, and thanks again to the Georgetown Life Squad, who has agreed to be on site that day. Thanks to International Paper who is providing water bottles for Field Day. Thanks to Susan Poole who is providing Pizza for our students for lunch on Field Day! Each student will also receive an SMS Field Day t-shirt and Kona Ice. We will be asking $10 per student to help with the costs of Field Day.

  • 8th grade graduation Mass and Passing the Light Ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, May 20. Mass begins at 5:30. Seventh Grade is part of the Passing the Light Ceremony. There will be a dinner afterward for the graduates and their families.

  • Preschool graduation is May 21.

  • The last day of school is Thursday, May 22. We will have awards in the morning beginning at 9:00 in the Church. Following awards, we will have a cookout in the parking lot, and students will be dismissed at 12:30.

If you have not turned in your scholarship paperwork, please do it this week. We still have 13 students who still have paperwork to get in so we can finish the renewal. If you need help, feel free to call.

Lots going on, lots to remember. Please follow our events on the app, or read the newsletter down the stretch. Have a great week!
