Parade

Happy Friday!

This is a reminder that this is the last day of school until Monday, October 2, due to the Brown County Fair. Good luck to all of our students taking projects to the fair, and safe travels to all of our families who are going out of town!

PLEASE make sure you grab your family's white SMS folder today. There will be several important items inside that need your attention and some things need to be returned when we come back on October 2. In today's folder you will find:

  • Updated lunch/milk balances (thru Wednesday)
  • Updated tuition balances (If you are still waiting for Edchoice approval, do not panic!)
  • Parent-Teacher Conference Sign Up Sheets
  • Grandparents Day Sign Up Sheets
  • "R Farms" Permission Slips (P-2 only)

Bus Update: We are making progress on the bus. We have jumped through many of the "hoops" that we have to do to be able to legally transport students, and Dusty Fussnecker is finalizing the details to purchase the bus and make sure everything is inspected and approved. The biggest holdup right now is the driver situation. We have a parent who is going through the process of getting school bus driver credentials, but Ohio has one of the more strict and lengthy processes in the country, so it will take some time. Again, if anyone knows someone who already has these credentials and could at least help us out to start or as a sub, who could help, please let me know. We will be working on our end next week, and we will keep you in the loop as we get closer to October 2.

Finally, we hope to see many of our students Monday evening at the parade. Thanks to the Bradley family for donating a wagon for us to pull. Our families should wear their SMS gear proudly on Monday and join us on the SMS float! The parade lineup is in the parking lot at Georgetown High School as usual. Keep in mind, you will not be able to park at school. Most people have someone drop them off, or they park somewhere in town, and walk to the parade lineup. I plan to be there by 3:00 or so, and the parade starts at 4:30. Parents are welcome to ride the float or walk alongside with their children. If you do not ride, you MUST meet us as we come out of the ring at the fair.  After the parade, I will drive back to IGA parking lot to drop off anyone left on the float.  As of 7:30am this morning, we do not know our lineup number, but i will share it as soon as it has been posted.

On behalf of our entire staff, we hope you all have a safe, relaxing, and fun fair break!
