Good afternoon SMS Families. As many of you know, our modular building was delivered Wednesday. The past two days, the crew from the modular company have been assembling the the classrooms. Unfortunately, there are still many things that need to be done including electrical work and preparation of the floors, not to mention moving everything in after the floors are prepared properly. We are eager to start, but we want to do it right and orderly to avoid as much confusion as possible for our students. This means the first day of school will now be Monday, August 28th.
We will have a Meet the Teacher Day where families can drop off their school supplies, meet their teacher and checkout their classrooms on Sunday, August 27. If your last name begins with the letters A-E you can come to the school 3:00-4:00 pm, F-M 4:00-5:00 pm, N-Z 5:00-6:00pm.
As a result of this delay, we will have to make up some of the missed hours, however we had an abundance of hours built in to the schedule that will account for most of the time missed. I plan to have those make-up days announced next week, with a revised SMS 2023-24 Academic Calendar.
Again, we apologize for the delay, we expected to have everything here and ready to go before August. The new classrooms are nice and spacious and are going to help us create a great learning environment for our students. Thank you for your patience.
