Good afternoon! I hope you all are enjoying your summer! We have been busy preparing for the 23-24 school year, and we would like to share some of the latest news with each of you.

First, we would like to welcome our new Title 1 Reading Teacher to the SMS Staff. Mrs. Barb Wallace. Mrs. Wallace has spent her entire career as a Title 1 teacher working for the West Clermont School district at St. Bernadette in Amelia and St. Veronica in Mt. Carmel, where she worked, building reading and comprehension skills with students from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. Mrs. Wallace is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bethel. She and her husband Jeff have three children, and soon-to-be ten grandchildren. Welcome to SMS Mrs. Wallace!

Our new Science Teacher for grades 3-8 will be Mr. Grant Felice. Mr. Felice has been teaching science for over 30 years, and holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from the University of Kentucky in Secondary Science Education. He served on the Kentucky Science Teachers Association Board for six years. He was the St. Patrick Parish CCD coordinator from 2002-2011. Since 2001, Mr. Felice taught at Mason County, St. Augustine, and St. Patrick School and is currently the park coordinator at the Cummins Nature Preserve in Mason County (KY). Mr. Felice brings a passion and excitement for hands-on science, and will be an excellent addition to our staff. Welcome to SMS Mr. Felice!

Finally, we had a lot of tears on the last day of school as our third, fourth and fifth graders said goodbye to Mrs. Debbe Gardner. Well. After several discussions, I am happy to announce that Mrs. Gardner is coming back to SMS in a part time role. Mrs. Gardner will continue to teach Language Arts to the third and fourth grades! Welcome back Mrs. Gardner, the Tom Brady of English Teachers!

We still have a couple more positions to fill, and we can't say anything else at this time, but I am very excited about what each of these talented educators will bring to our students!
